Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of internal surface flaws by measuring the advancing speed of a material to be rolled or the axial load of plug and adjusting the supply of an antislipping agent based on the increase and decrease of those measured values at the time of rolling the material while supplying the antislipping agent between rolling rolls and the material.

CONSTITUTION: In the hot rolling of a seamless steel tube using the rolling rolls and the plug 5, the rolling is executed while supplying the antislipping agent between piercer barrel type rolls 1, 1' and a billet (before rolling). The advancing speed Vb of the billet 3 on the inlet side of rolling mill is measured by a measuring machine 9 such as a laser speed meter, or the advancing speed Vh of a hollow 4 on the outlet side of the rolling mill is measured by the measuring machine 9. Further, the axial load of plug is measured by a load cell being a load measuring instrument in a thrust block 7 part through a plug bar 6. The rolling is executed while adjusting the supply of the antislipping agent based on the increase and decrease of those measured values. In this way, the generation of the internal surface flaw is prevented, the service life of the plug is prolonged and the cost of using the antislipping agent is reduced.
