Abstract:
To provide a method for identifying a subject at particular risk of developing end organ damage such as heart failure or at particular risk of developing complications of heart failure.
A method for inspecting a subject at risk of complications of heart failure comprises determining the level of galectin-3 in a biological sample from a subject, and comparing the level of galectin-3, indicative of a risk of heart failure, to a standard level, where an increase in the level is indicative of a risk of complications of heart failure.
