Abstract:

PURPOSE: To stably ignite a burner by bringing a pilot flame close to the bottom of the burner while feeding air from a hole for feeding combustion improving gas in the burner, starting the feed of gaseous fuel and slowly changing over the combustion improving gas from the air to oxygen after ignition.

CONSTITUTION: Gaseous fuel and combustion improving gas are fed from a burner 1, a high temp. flame is formed in a furnace and inorg. powdery starting material is jetted into the flame, melted and sphered. At the time of igniting the burner 1, a pilot flame from a pilot burner 10 is brought close to the bottom of the burner 1 while feeding air from a hole 11 for feeding combustion improving gas in the burner 1, the feed of gaseous fuel from a hole 12 for jetting fuel in the burner 1 is started and the combustion improving gas is slowly changed over from the air to oxygen after ignition. The burner can stably be ignited without generating soot or causing an accidental fire and melted and sphered particles are efficiently produced.
