Title:
METHOD FOR IMPARTING INFUSIBILITY TO SYNTHETIC POLYMER MOLDED ARTICLE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5543157
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To impart excellent infusibility to a synthetic polymer molded article, by pretreating the article with an agent such as an aromatic sulfonic acid, a water- dispersible phenol-formaldehyde resin, etc., applying an aqueous liquid containing a melamine resin to the pretreated surface, and curing the resin in the presence of water.

CONSTITUTION: A molded article, especially fiber of a synthetic polymer such as polyethylene terephthalate, nylon, etc., is pretreated with a pretreating agent selected from aromatic sulfonic acids having at least one phenolic OH in the molecule, water-dispersible phenol-formaldehyde resins having at least one phenolic OH group and at least one sulfonic acid group in the molecule, and their derivatives. The pretreated surface is further treated with an aqueous liquid containing a melamine resin of formula (R1-6 are H, CH2OR7 or, lower alkyl; R7 is lower alkyl), and the resin is cured in the presence of water.
