Abstract:
To provide a means for improving the performance of an exhaust gas after-treatment system in a combustion system.
An additive containing fuel and a manganese compound is supplied into the combustion system. The fuel is burned in a combustion chamber to generate at least one by-product containing the manganese compound. The manganese compound is supplied with an amount effective to form the combustion by-product and a compound. The combustion system may contain a catalyst or, alternatively, a continuously regenerative diesel particulate filter.
