Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the quality of a petroleum distillate at a low cost and to obtain an oil with a low sulfur content and a good hue.

CONSTITUTION: A petroleum distillate is hydrogenated in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst to give an oil With a sulfur content of 0.4wt.% or lower and a Saybolt color of -10 or lower, which is brought into contact with a porous material.
