Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the taste of milk, by insulating the milk or the container containing the milk nearly completely from the earth in a proper stage during the processing steps of the fresh milk to be shipped, and applying negative electric charge to the milk, etc. for a definite time interval.

CONSTITUTION: A milk container 1 is placed at the position separated as far as possible from the earth E, and highly insulative insulators 3 are placed between the container 1 and the supporting bed 2 to attain a good insulated state. A terminal 4 of an electrostatic generator 4 is immersed in the milk in the container 1 maintained to the nearly completely insulated state, and the milk is charged to a negative potential. The charged period is ≥6hr, preferably about 10hr. As an alternative method, an electrically conductive plate is placed on the insulators 3, an electrically conductive container containing milk is placed on the conductive plate, and the plate is connected to the terminal of the electrostatic generator to apply a negative potential to the milk in the container.
