To provide a method for improving a travelling performance for improving a riding quality and travelling performance over the whole vehicle travel range by securely preventing the undulated wear of rail, the idle rotation and slipping of wheels, vibration, and noise caused over each travel range by placing a friction controlling reagent between wheels and rails so as to control a coefficient of friction.
In this method for improving a travelling performance, a first friction controlling reagent having a characteristic such that a coefficient of friction increases as the increase in a slip ratio is applied to an inner rail side in an advance direction at least in a sloped and curved ranges in such a manner that 20 to 80% of a wheel to rail contact area on a rail top surface is covered with the friction controlling reagent. A second friction controlling reagent exerting a lubricating action is applied to the shoulder of an outer rail side in an advance direction at least in a curved range.
