PURPOSE: To define the description of a rule and to easily execute the development and maintenance of artificial intelligence by advancing inference based upon control rules and inference rules.
CONSTITUTION: The inference rules 11 to 13 for executing inference and the control rules 14, 15 for controlling the execution of the inference rules 11 to 13 are stored in a storage device and either one of the control rules 14, 15 is accessed and executed by an inference engine 6. After executing the control rule, a required inference rule is accessed and executed. After the end of execution of the inference rule, the other control rule is accessed and executed. Thus, inference is advanced. Consequently, the rules for advancing the inference can be simplified and cleared and the development and maintenance of inference program are easily executed.
