PURPOSE: To protect a lens from a protein covering material contained in tears on the surface of the lens by using human or mammalian colostrum or breast milk for inhibiting accumulation of protein on the surface of a synthetic polymer.
CONSTITUTION: In this method, human or mammalian colostrum or breast milk, each of which is capable of inhibiting protein accumulation on the surface of a synthetic polymer 9 in contact with a biological system that may contain protein, is used. At this time, the colostrum or breast milk is centrifuged at 2,800G, for 30min at 4°C to discard the resulting surface layer liquid and to recover the remaining main liquid. Thereafter, the recovered liquid is further centrifuged at 1,500G, for 30min at 4°C to suck out lipids in the surface layer and to recover the remaining liquid. Then, the recovered liquid is filtered with a molecular sieve having a 0.22μm pore size to obtain a filtered solution. If desired, the resulting filtered solution is diluted with a buffer solution having a pH of about 7.4 to produce a diluted solution. Further, the protein concn. of the colostrum or breast milk solution contg. no fat is adjusted to ≤10mg/ml, as it is in a pure state or by diluting the solution with the buffer solution.
