To provide a new and effective UV(ultraviolet)-defensive means through elucidating a new epidermis-specific UV-defensive mechanism.
A method for enhancing the resistance to dermatic disorder onset attributable to ultraviolet irradiation on the skin by advancing the expression in SCCA-1/-2 of epidermal cell to inhibit ultraviolet-induced apoptosis is provided. Further, a skin inspection method for rating the resistance to dermatic disorder attributable to ultraviolet irradiation on the skin is also provided, comprising assaying the expression of SCCA-1/-2 in epidermal cell and, when the expression declines compared with that in the epidermal cell, judging that the UV resistance of the epidermis is low. Besides, a method for screening a drug enhancing the resistance to dermatic disorder attributable to ultraviolet irradiation on the skin is also provided, comprising selecting a drug that advances the expression of SCCA-1 and/or -2 as an UV resistance enhancer.
