PURPOSE: To insert ceramic parts as intenal chill without breaking by fitting metal-made cover member having m.p. higher than m.p. of casting metal at end face part to longitudinal direction of the ceramic parts under the prescribed gap between the end face and the cover and inserting this ceramic parts with the metal as internal chill.
CONSTITUTION: Buffering material layer 2 composed of porous carbide carbide is formed at outer peripheral part and end parts of pipe-state ceramic parts 1 (e.g., aluminum titanate-made) and the stell-made cover-like members 3 are fitted with the gap δ. Then, at the time of using (lm) for distance between the metal-made cover-like members 3 at both faces, α for coefficient of thermal expansion of casting metal 4 for inserting, T1 for solidified temp. of the casting metal 4 and T2 for the min. using surrounding temp., the gap δ is shown with the equation. Successively, the ceramic parts 1 fitting the cover-like member 3 are set in a casting mold as cores and the molten metal of casting metal 4 (aluminum) is poured to insert the ceramic parts. By this method, shrinkage caused by solidification and cooling of the casting metal 4 for inserting and dimensional variation caused by expansion and shrinkage thereof are absorbed and relieved and the ceramic parts 1 are not broken.
