Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent weld cracking by using a wire contg. C, Si, Mn, Al, Ti, Zr, Ni, and Mo when shielded arc welding is carried out with the use of gaseous Ar, N2, and CO2, and visually inspecting the weld zone after welding.

CONSTITUTION: Shielded arc welding is carried out with the use of Ar, N2, Ar-N2, or a gas obtained by mixing ≤50% CO2 into one kind among the above- mentioned gases. A wire contg. ≤0.15% C, 0.30W1.0% Si, 0.8W2.00% Mn, ≤0.030% P, ≤0.030% S, 0.5W2.00% Al, ≤1.0% Ti and/or Zr, and 0.50W2.50% Ni and/or Mo is used in the welding, and a weld zone 3 is visually inspected after welding. By this method, weld cracking is prevented, and a satisfactory product is obtained.
