To install a temporary roof for construction easily and in a short period of time at a building demolition or repair work side without using a tower crane.
A temporary roof for construction is installed by using a unit 5 of air-inflated double membrane structure having windable flexibility and inflatable by filling air as a roof material configuring the temporary roof 3. The temporary roof 3 is installed by steps of: (a) arranging a lifting mechanism 8 on a top part of a building, and installing pillars 4 at positions of outer walls on both sides of the building, respectively; (b) lifting the unit up to an erection height by the lifting mechanism in a state of winding the unit; (c) laying a guide cable 10 between an apex of the lifting mechanism and the pillars; (d) spreading and supporting the unit while guiding it by the guide cable; (e) installing the unit in a self-sustaining manner by filling the unit with air to inflate it; and (f) removing the lifting mechanism and the guide cable.
