PURPOSE: To measure the mixture amount of air in engine oil in a short time by applying different specific pressure to the engine oil at two proper places in a branch path which branches from a circulation path and extends to an oil pan and measuring integral flow rates of the engine oil at the same time.
CONSTITUTION: The engine oil which is pumped up by a pump 2 from the oil pan 1 is passed through an engine oil duct 3 to lubricate respective parts of an engine E and returned to the oil pan 1, and the engine oil is shunt at a point A to a measurement duct 4 and flows out to the pan 1 again. The pressure of the engine oil, which flows in the duct 4, between points A and B is set by a high-pressure side back pressure valve 9 and the pressure between points C and D is set by a low-pressure side back pressure valve 13. Then the measurement of a 1st flowmeter 6 and a 2nd flowmeter 10 are started and stopped at the same time and integral flow rates at both the places are measured at the same time. The mixture rate and mixture rate of air in the engine oil are calculated from the flow rates under different pressure.
