Abstract:

To provide a method and instrument for measuring temperature by which the temperature of an object to be measured can be measured with small errors and automatic calibration can be made.

The instrument for measuring temperature comprises an optical fiber thermometer body 1 which measures the temperature of the object 12 to be measured, a thermostat 11 for reference temperature arranged in the vicinity of the object 12, and an optical fiber 9 for temperature measurement one end of which is connected to the thermometer body 1 and which is arranged between the thermostat 11 and object 12 to make a round trip. The device also comprises a computer 10 for control/display which calibrates temperature information based on the temperature information from the thermometer body 1 and reference temperature information. Since the difference between the temperature of the object 12 and that in the thermostat 11 is small, the errors of measured temperatures are small. Both the optical fiber 9 for temperature measurement arranged between the object 12 and the instrument and the extended part of the fiber 9 are housed in the thermostat 11. Since the temperature in the thermostat 11 is already known, automatic temperature calibration can be made based on the already known temperature.
