Title:
METHOD FOR ISOMERIZING QUADRICYCLENE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS60202832
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve sufficiently the contact of rew material compound quadricyclene with a catalyst and isomerize the quadricyclene to norbornadiene which is an organic photochemical thermal energy storage agent without forming polymers as a by-product in a short time, by bringing the quadricyclene into contact with palladium which is the catalyst, and applying ultrasonic waves to the quadricyclene.

CONSTITUTION: Palladium which is a catalyst is added to quadricyclene of formula I or a derivative thereof. Ultrasonic waves are then applied to the quadricyclene under or without heating preferably for 1W16hr to isomerize the quadricyclene to the corresponding norbornadiene of formula II or a derivative thereof. The output of the ultrasonic waves to be used is up to 15W1,200W, and a suitable output is used depending on the capacity. The application temperature is suitably room temperature W about 80°C. In the case of a structure in which another bath capable of heating a sample is provided in an ultrasonic wave water bath, the oil bath temperature may be up to 200°C.
