To reduce man-hour for joining and number of post processes by force-fitting with arranging a fixing force increasing means without depending on welding, brazing or friction welding about joining of journal parts to both ends of a hollow roll for a business machine.
Flanges 2 force-fitted with a journal shaft 1 at the center are attached with force-fitting on both ends of a hollow roll blank tube 3. Before its force-fitting, in order to increase the fixing force of the flange 2 with the hollow roll blank tube 3, the external diameter of the force-fitting part of the flange 2 is made larger about ≥20% than the normal force-fitting dimension, and further the roughness of finishing face is adjusted in ≤ about 50μmRy. Next, a saw knife like annular groove 2-2 is formed on the cylindrical face of external circumference 2-1 of the flange 2. Next, the annular shallow groove formed on the cylindrical face of external circumference 2-1 of the flange 2 is coated with an adhesive. Then, a deep recessing cavity part is formed between the fitting part of the journal shaft 1 and the external circumference part on the end face of the flange 2. The economical joining method having the joining strength of being in no way inferior to the conventional method can be obtained by applying a single of these means or with combination these means and then force- fitting.
