Abstract:

To provide a method and a joint for spot-welding of a ferrous material to an aluminum material in which production of brittle intermetallic compound formed on a welded part is suppressed and the consistently high welding strength is obtained by a simple means without considerably remodeling the conventional spot-welding equipment.

In this method, a coating film of 0.1-1 μm thick as a copper alloy film 3 or Cu alloy foil of 0.01-1 mm thick is disposed on a surface to be welded on the ferrous material 1 side, and fluoride flux 4 is coated on a surface to be welded on the aluminum material 2 side. Spot welding is performed under the conditions that the welding current is 8-18 kA, the pressure is 1.5-3 kN, and the welding time is ≤ 1s.
