To provide a method for determining a video state and controlling its exposure, which determines whether it is in a complete backlight state or in a complete non-backlight state and adjusts exposure parameters to compensate the exposure.
The video is divided into a plurality of weight sections, each having weight and luminance. The exposure control method has (A) a step of calculating a weighted luminance average of the video to set exposure parameters, (B) a step of determining whether or not the video is in the complete backlight state, (C) a step of increasing the weight of the weight section having the lowest luminance out of the weight sections and decreasing the weight of the weight section having the highest luminance out of the weight sections, and (D) a step of making adjustment based on the weights controlled by the step (C) and calculating the weighted luminance average of the video again to adjust the exposure parameters.
