To provide a method for knitting a knitted wearer by the use of a flat knitting machine, increasing the freedom of the design of a sleeve top pattern and improving the appearance of a connecting portion, when a sleeve and a body are knitted and connected.

This method for knitting a knitted wearer comprises a step for knitting the right and left sleeve portions 3r, 31 and the body portion 5 in cylindrical forms, respectively, from the skirt portion to the armpit, a step for forming a portion near to the armpit of the arm hole, a step for interrupting the knitting of the stitch course of the body 5 and feeding a yarn only to the sleeves 3r, 31 to knit the sleeve top portion by a returning knitting method, and a step for restarting the knitting of the stitch course of the body 5 after the formation of the sleeve top portion 9, sequentially connecting the body 5 to the sleeve top 9 of the knitted sleeve 3 by the transfer of stitches for each formation of the prescribed number of stitch courses, thus forming the residual portion of the arm hole. In the step for forming the portion near to the armpit of the arm hole, a yarn is roundly fed to needles for catching the stitches of the sleeves 3r, 31 and the body 5 so as to draw a large cylindrical body connected to the sleeves 3r, 31 and the body 5, thus forming the stitch course, and simultaneously transferring the stitches of both the sleeves 3r, 31 to the side of the body 5 to sequentially connecting the sleeves 3r, 31 to the body 5 to reduce the diameter of the cylindrical body, thus forming the portion near to the armpit of the arm hole.
