To provide a method for a lap welding of zinc-based plated steel plates with a laser beam, with which method the welding is performed at an arbitral position of the zinc-based plated steel plates without specifying a welding position.
Recessed parts are provided on the surface of a steel plates to decrease the vapor pressure of zinc generated during the welding with the laser beam in order to prevent the generation of a weld defect when the zinc- based plated steel plates are lapped and welded. Further, the welding is performed at an arbitral position of the zinc-based plated steel plates without specifying a welding position by specifying such conditions as the thickness of the steel plates, a coating surface density at the joined faces, the beam diameter of the welding with the laser beam, the dimension of the recessed parts and the positional relationship between recessed parts.
