In order to identify each reproduction terminal, a unique identifier is assigned to each of the terminal devices. The identifier of the terminal permitted by a license is registered in the license. When reproducing a content, authentication is performed between the terminal device to receive the license and the storage device to transfer the license. In the authentication, the identifier of the terminal device is transmitted to the storage device as the transmission source. The storage device compares the received identifier to the identifier registered in the license. If they coincide, the license is transmitted to the terminal device. If they do not coincide, the transmission of the license is stopped.
