Abstract:
To achieve an improvement in the uniformity of pipe wall thickness and stabilization of piercing rolling in a piercer mill to be utilized in the first process for manufacturing a seamless steel pipe.
A method comprises a process in which the end of a billet pushing bar for pushing a billet touches the end of the billet and the billet is gripped by means of a plurality of claws, a process in which the gripped billet is pre-rotated and pushed into the entry side of the piercer mill, and a process in which the claws are released from the billet when the billet has been pushed into the entry side of the piercer mill, in at least this order, in charging the billet into the piercer mill.
