Abstract:

PURPOSE: To eliminate the necessity for embedding a large number of pegs or pins and to dispense with the use of a specific laying-down head with respect to thread.

CONSTITUTION: The reinforcement of a composite element 1 is constituted of plies 2, 3 of thread and the straight portions 5 of the threads of the plies 2, 3 are laid down on a support and all of threads are compacted by stitching continuous threads without knotting. The straight portions 5 of thread are laid down by a needle and the continuous threads F partially formed by the straight portions 5 are slidable with respect to the needle and the needle is movable in relation to the support 6 to tightly pull the straight portions of the threads on the support over a degree equal to the length of the straight portions 5 of thread. The straight portions 5 of the threads are fixed by stitching at least one of the ends 4b, 5a, 5b of the straight portions of thread by using the needle without forming knotting in the support.
