Abstract:

To provide a method for effectively grooving surfaces of a titanium anode material and a cathode material such as nickel or an iron plate, as one of improvement methods such as the improvement of an electrode shape or improvement of a metal coated on the electrode which are presently performed in an effort to improve the performance of the electrode equipped with an electrolytic cell for the manufacture of caustic soda, an ionized alkaline water electrode, a water treatment hypochlorous acid generation electrode or the like.

A plurality of disc-like blades having the same outer diameters and thicknesses of 0.3 to 2.0 mm are provided with spacers of thickness 0.3 to 2.0 mm therebetween so that pitches are maintained between the blades. In this state, the blades and spacers are mounted to a rotating shaft and rotated, so that constantly spaced grooves are cut on the surface of the electrode material.
