Abstract:
To provide a method of simply and accurately machining a thin tapered ring with claw sections such as a synchronized ring; and a chuck.
The claw sections 15 of the heat-treated thin tapered ring 10 are fitted into notches 31 disposed in the chuck 30 of a lathe, and at least three points of an outer peripheral surface 12 are clamped by chuck claws 32. A side surface 14 disposed on the opposite side of the claw sections 15 is machined by hard turning. Further, by using the side surface 14 after the hard turning as a machining reference surface, an inner peripheral surface 11 and the outer peripheral surface 12 of the thin tapered ring 10 are polishingly finished by grinding wheels 20 and 21.
