Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and equipment for continuing combustion in a furnace by using an oxy-fuel combustion system in the case an oxygen supply is temporarily reduced or suspended.
SOLUTION: Air or oxygen-enriched air and fuel are introduced to a heating device for conducting combustion in place of an oxy-fuel mixture, and the heating level in the furnace is maintained. A volume of an exhaust gas is reduced in an air mode operation or in an oxygen-enriched air mode operation by the use of a water cooling of exhaust gas from the furnace.
