First, two or more holes 31 are bored on a workpiece (a first step shown in Fig. 2(a)), and then the holes are bored so that part of them overlap the adjacent bored holes 31 and 32 (a second step shown in Figs. 2(b)-(d)). At this time, if a pitch P between the holes 32 and 35 to be bored and the adjacent hole is larger than a predetermined distance, the hole 32 is bored at a standard long hole cutting speed slower than that during the fist step (Figs. 2(b) and (c)), and when the pitch P gets smaller than the predetermined distance, the hole 35 is bored at a fast cutting speed higher than the standard long hole cutting speed (Fig. 2(d)), so as to improve the surface finish accuracy of the long hole 30.
