To obtain a silicone copolymer usable on the hot fuser roll in an electrophotographic printing process by adding the total amount of a catalyst to a reaction mixture in portions throughout the course of the reaction, in producing a random silicone copolymer.
This random silicone copolymer is obtained by reacting (A) a 15-60C 1-alkene (most preferably triacontene) with (B) a prepolymer containing a methylhydrosiloxane (preferably, a polydimethylsiloxane-co- polymethylhydrosiloxane(PDMS-co-PMHS) prepolymer) in the presence of a catalyst, in which a total amount of a catalyst (platinum, palladium or their mixture, especially platinum) is added to the reaction mixture in portions throughout the course of the reaction. When the effective amount of reaction catalyst is added stepwise to the reaction mixture over the course of the reaction, the reaction goes further toward completion than if the catalyst has all been added at one time.
