To provide a method for manufacture of a roller for a roller bearing, composed of simple work processes, in which lowered manufacturing cost, improved productivity, and extended product life can be achieved.
The method includes a pipe forming process of molding a disc cut in compliance with prescribed specifications into a pipe, and abutting its edge faces to each other to be welded, a drawing process to draw a long roller-shaped steel pipe after the pipe forming process to be processed to size for a rough cutting procedure to suit applications, a cutting process of cutting the steel pipe completed through the drawing process in prescribed length to specifications of roller bearings, and a heat treatment process of conducting QT heat treatment to rollers cut in prescribed length in the cutting process to improve mechanical properties.
