To increase response to actuation by reducing leakage of hydraulic oil by preventing deformation of a cylindrical housing.
The cylindrical housing 8, having a sprocket part 3 at the outer periphery and a partition wall 12 projected at the inner periphery, is formed by sintering. A vane member 5 connected to a camshaft 1 is housed and arranged at the cylindrical housing 8, and an angle-of-lead hydraulic chamber 15 and an angle-of-delay hydraulic chamber 16 are arranged at both sides of the blade part 14 of the vane member 5. A rotating phase of the cylindrical housing 8 and the camshaft 1 is changed by timely supplying and draining hydraulic pressure to each hydraulic chamber 15, 16. In order to manufacture such a valve timing control device, the cylindrical housing 8 is sintered by filling powder metal in a molding die, then the sprocket part 3 is rolled, and finally the cylindrical housing 8 is heat-treated. The sprocket part 3 prevents overall deformation of the cylindrical housing 8, and corrects deformation caused by sintering when rolled.
