To reduce manufacturing cost of an airtight terminal by eliminating "a cause to bring wear on a jig surface" possibly occurring in a general manufacturing process of the airtight terminal, and then by providing a method of manufacturing the airtight terminal capable of prolonging the jig's service-life.
In the method of manufacturing the airtight terminal, for the jig manufactured by machining ceramics superior in heat resistance, oxidation resistance, and abrasion resistance, a sealing jig is used which is impregnated with boron nitride superior in the mold releasability from glass, and also superior in the heat resistance and the oxidation resistance. By this, the inconvenience can be eliminated which arises from the wear of the jig surface in a process of manufacturing the airtight terminal.
