Abstract:
To provide an industrial manufacturing method which permits ready management of temperature control by improving reaction conditions into milder ones, increases the yield of the aimed product as the result of suppression of by-products, decreases by-produced NO2 gas generation, and causes no contamination with impurity metals in the aimed product.
The method for manufacturing 1,2,4-tricarboxy-3-carboxymethylcyclopentane (TCMP) represented by formula [2] comprises oxidizing a hydroxydicyclopentadiene represented by formula [1] by nitric acid in the absence of a catalyst in the presence of a solvent (for example, 1,2-dichloroethane and the like).
