To provide a method for productively manufacturing an aluminum alloy thick plate having highly precise thickness, which can easily control the surface state, and to provide the aluminum alloy thick plate.
The aluminum alloy comprises a predetermined amount of Mg and Zn, further at least one or more elements among Si, Fe, Cu, Mn, Cr, Ti and Zr, and the balance Al with unavoidable impurities. The manufacturing method comprises sequentially: a melting step (S1) of melting the aluminum alloy; a hydrogen-gas-removing step (S2) of removing hydrogen gas from the aluminum alloy melted in the melting step (S1); a filtering step (S3) of removing inclusions from the aluminum alloy from which hydrogen gas has been removed; a casting step (S4) of producing an ingot by casting the aluminum alloy from which the inclusions have been removed; and a slicing step (S6) of slicing the ingot into a predetermined thickness.
