PURPOSE: To improve a load resisting property, antiseizure property and antifatigue property for a long period of use by impregnating In into Pb containing phase filling gaps between Cu alloy skeletons bonded to a back metal until the In goes from the surface beyond a predetermined depth in a section of a bearing, and immersing the In in a melting bath containing the Pb and In.
CONSTITUTION: A strip 24 constituting Pb containing phases 12 filling gaps between Cu alloy skeletons 13 bonded to a back metal 10 is immersed in a melting bath 23 containing Pb and In after washing the surface so that the strip will contain In up to the depth exceeding about 20μm from the surface as viewed from a bearing section prepared in an iron bath tub 20 having a predetermined length. Thereafter, the strip 24 taken out of the iron bath tub 20 has superfluous Pb-In wiped off by a wiping-off device 22 and is carried in the direction 25 of moving the strip to be worked into the bearing configuration after cooling. Thus, the strength of the bearing can be improved and the seizure resisting property can be held to be high.
