To provide a method of easily and efficiently manufacturing a bearing raceway member on which surface hardening treatment is performed and which is used in a caulked and fixed state.
This invention provides the method of manufacturing the bearing raceway members 5a, 5b, ... respectively having a raceway part on its axial central part and being caulked and fixed by the other member at its outer peripheral edge part at an axial end side. In this manufacturing method, carburizing treatment is performed on a material 1 for the bearing raceway member having projections 1a at specific intervals first. Then the material 1 is cut approximately at a central part of the projection 1a, and further a flange-shaped projecting part 1b formed by the cutting is removed. In the other method, a plurality of materials for the bearing raceway member are connected by caps, then the carburizing treatment is performed, and the caps are removed.
