Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a bentonite molded body which can shorten drying time, when dry-shrinkage is promoted under a drying rate condition corresponding to grain size of pellets.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing a high-density, nearly spherical bentonite molded body, comprising adding water to bentonite powder and kneading the mixture; and drying and shrinking a wet pellet obtained by rounding the kneaded mixture nearly spherically. The method comprises a drying process where a drying rate condition is set so that the drying rate condition of a pellet, v D, becomes 80 or less, when a value calculated by v=(w-w)/t from a value of drying time t (Hr) required for a moisture content ratio to change from an initial ratio wto a ratio won the way to drying is denoted as a moisture content decreasing rate v (1/Hr), where an average diameter of the pellet is denoted by D (mm) and the moisture content ratio by an actual value. Drying by the drying step is speeded up by blowing a high temperature and/or a large amount of air at a point of time when the moisture content ratio of the pellet becomes smaller than 0.10 to 0.15.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
