PURPOSE: To provide a manufacturing method of brake lining including a plurality of studs made mainly of bronze or iron and fixed on a metallic plate or a support.
CONSTITUTION: The surface of a support 3 is coated with blaze welding suspension. The suspension is oxidized and reduced to form an adhered surface. A stud blank 120 is formed using a powdery friction material and compressed. On the other hand, a belt blank 15 with the inner diameter 1.005-1.050 times as large as the outer diameter of the stud blank 120 is formed using metallic powder 150 and compressed and the belt blank 15 is placed around the stud blank 120 and sintered to forme a sheathed stud blank. Those blanks are placed on the adhered surface and joined with the support by heat treatment. The sheathed stud blank is forged at a temperature higher than 400°C and the height is contracted by more than 15% to obtain a brake lining.
