Abstract:

To provide a method for performing a surface-treatment for hardening a groove surface without reaching the heat in the surface-treatment of the groove in a cam-shaft to the neighborhood of an axial center in the cam-shaft or while restraining the fusion in the edge part of the groove in the upper surface-treatment.

In a manufacture of the cam-shaft having the groove 18, at first, a heat-quantity reducing member for reducing thermal-conduction to the axial center of the cam-shaft is formed and thereafter, after performing the heat-treatment on the groove surface under condition of forming the heat-quantity reducing member, the heat-quantity reducing member is removed.
