To provide a method for manufacturing a can body by which fitting work is made easy by securing rigidity when fitting a shell plate and an end plate and also, a stress concentration part can be lost after joining the shell plate and the end plate.
The method for manufacturing the can body 10 for assembling by fitting the end plate 1 to the cylindrical shell plate 2 consists of a process for providing a first annular reinforcing rib 4 along the circumferential direction near a fitting portion with the cylindrical shell plate 2 of the end plate 1 and also, a second annular reinforcing rib 5 along the circumferential direction near the fitting portion with the end plate 1 of the cylindrical shell plate 2, a process for joining by fitting the cylindrical shell plate 2 and the end plate 1, and a process for flattening out the first annular reinforcing rib 4 of the end plate 1 and the second annular reinforcing rib 5 of the cylindrical shell plate 2.
