Abstract:

To provide a method of manufacturing a carbon fiber composite material using carbon nanofiber, and to provide the carbon fiber composite material.

The method of manufacturing the carbon fiber composite material includes: a step (a) of mixing a particulate super high molecular weight polyethylene with the carbon nanofiber, filling the mixture in a mold set to a first temperature, and preliminarily pressing it to deposit the carbon nanofiber on the super high molecular weight; and a step (b) of pressing the super high molecular weight polyethylene and the carbon nanofiber preliminarily pressed in a mold set to a second temperature, and molding it to obtain the carbon fiber composite material. The first temperature is equal to or above the melting temperature of the super high molecular weight polyethylene and below the flow starting temperature. The second temperature is equal to or above the flow starting temperature of the super high molecular weight polyethylene and below the heat degradation starting temperature.
