Abstract:
To solve the problem in the conventional method for manufacturing carbon nanotubes, in which multi-walled carbon nanotubes obtained by a vapor phase growth method are subjected to a heat treatment at a high temperature higher than the formation temperature of the carbon nanotubes.
When carbon nanotubes are manufactured by a catalytic vapor-phase growth method comprising circulating a carbon source gas in a heating atmosphere and growing multi-walled carbon nanotubes from the surface of a catalyst being brought into contact with the carbon source gas, a mineral powder containing iron is used as the catalyst.
