Abstract:

To provide a method for manufacturing catalyst-bearing carriers for electrode catalysts composing fuel cells excellent in a power generation function, and also to provide a method for manufacturing electrode catalysts.

The method for manufacturing catalyst-bearing carriers includes: a first step of supplying conductive carriers 1, catalyst metal salts 2, and polymer electrolytes 3 into dispersion solvents W, stiring them to create solutions, and providing the polymer electrolytes 3 co-existing with the catalyst metal salts 2 in the solutions; and a second step of reducing the catalyst metal salts 2 to carry solvents 2' on the surfaces of the conductive carriers 1 and simultaneously covering the surfaces of the conductive carriers 1 with films 3 composed of conductive carriers to obtain catalyst-bearing carriers 10. Also, the method for manufacturing electrode catalysts includes a step of supplying the catalyst-bearing carriers obtained by the method for manufacturing catalyst-bearing carriers and additional polymer electrolytes into additional dispersion solvents and stiring them to create catalyst solvents.
