To provide an electrode in which a catalyst is dispersed in an extremely fine and numerous positions physically in flat plane (in 2 dimensions) and in 3 dimensions in order to raise power generation efficiency of a solid polymer fuel cell and in which a total catalyst surface is enlarged.
Condensed polycyclic hydrocarbon is mixed into a catalyst-carbon compound or a catalyst-nanocarbon compound to obtain a fuel cell catalyst electrode which can stand comparison with an electrode in which a conventional expensive catalyst-carbon compound or catalyst-nanocarbon compound only are used for a catalyst layer. In this manufacturing method, there are no restrictions at all for applying to a carrying method of a platinum catalyst in a carbon nano-horn and a carrying method of a platinum catalyst in a carbon nanotube or the like, and any kind of these nanocarbon groups can be used. By manufacturing the fuel cell catalyst electrode and laminating a polymer electrolyte membrane, an economical fuel cell structure can be manufactured.
