To provide a method of manufacturing a catalyst, with which dispersion of activity of the catalyst to be manufactured is suppressed to obtain the catalyst having the targeted activity, particularly, in the multi-lot manufacture of the solid catalysts at least containing molybdenum.
The multi-lot manufacturing method of the solid catalyst comprises the steps of: preparing the catalyst or a catalyst precursor from raw materials for manufacturing the catalyst by using a batch reaction kettle; and molding the prepared catalyst or catalyst precursor. One of (I) the catalyst composition, (II) the preparation condition of the catalyst or catalyst precursor and (III) the molding condition of the catalyst or catalyst precursor is adjusted so that the activity value of the catalyst to be manufactured by each lot is within 0.80-1.20 times of the targeted value and the mean value of activity values of all catalysts to be manufactured is within 0.85-1.15 times of the targeted value. The activity value of the catalyst is a reaction rate constant in the catalyst performance test using a fixed-bed circulation reactor.
