To provide a method for manufacturing a color filter, in which a colored pixel layer superior in flatness can be formed and color nonuniformity can be prevented from being caused by a thickness difference between the adjacent colored pixel layers.
A colored pixel layer forming step for forming the colored pixel layer in an opening of a black matrix 5BM includes a fist packing step, a first drying/solidifying step, a second packing step and a second drying/solidifying step. At the fist packing step, a coloring ink of the first packing amount, which is 30-70 vol.% of such the total packing amount of the coloring ink that the thickness of the colored pixel layer 52B, 51G or 51R becomes 40-70% of that of the black matrix 5BM, is packed in the opening. At the first drying/solidifying step, the first packing amount of the coloring ink packed in the opening is dried/solidified. At the second packing step, the second packing amount of the coloring ink is packed in the opening. At the second drying/solidifying step, the second packing amount of the coloring ink packed in the opening is dried/solidified.
