To provide a method of manufacturing a color filter, which stores a required and sufficient quantity of ink drops in pixels to form pixels free from color mixture and voids.
The manufacturing method has a stage of applying a light shielding layer on a transparent substrate or a substrate reflecting light, a stage of processing the light shielding layer to form a light shielding area, a first heating stage of heating the substrate having the light shielding area formed to harden the light shielding area, a stage of sticking ink to a preliminarily determined part of the substrate having the hardened light shielding area, and a second heating stage of heating the substrate having the ink stuck thereto. In the first heating stage, the substrate is heated in such a condition that a cross-section of the ink stuck to the preliminarily determined part of the substrate having the hardened light shielding area may have a recessed shape after the first heating stage. In the second heating stage, the substrate is heated in such a condition that the ink may have a shape being within a preliminarily determined allowable range of unevenness, on the substrate after the second heating stage.
