To sort a connecting rod inexpensively without degrading a quality of the connecting rod when performing ranking, etc. of the connecting rod.
Weights of a large end part and a small end part are measured before machining a large end hole and a small end hole in an assembled state of a rod portion and a cap portion of a connecting rod, and the measured weight values are recorded (S40). Further, weights of the large end part and the small end part are measured after machining the large end hole and the small end hole. Differences between the weight values of each of the large end part and the small end part before and after machining the large end hole and the small end hole are determined, and the differences are converted into machining allowances when machining the large end hole and the small end hole, thereby calculating the inner diameter of each of the large end hole and the small end hole (S50). Accordingly, each inner diameter of the large end hole and the small end hole can be obtained even if an inner diameter measuring device is not used, thereby enabling sorting of the connecting rod inexpensively without degrading the quality of the connecting rod.
