In manufacture of a connecting rod 1 for manufacturing a connecting rod body 2 and a cap 16 by rupturing and dividing a large end part 7 along a division expected surface P2' having a predetermined angle to a vertical surface P1 of the center line L1 of a connecting rod stem 5, a first notch 21a is formed in a starting point part on the side of becoming a narrow angle in an angle α1 formed by the center line L1 of the connecting rod stem 5 and the division expected surface P2' out of starting point parts of rupture-division set by making a pair on an inner peripheral surface of the large end part 7, a second notch 21b deeper than the first notch 21a is formed in a starting point part on the side of becoming a wide angle in an angle α2 formed by the center line L1 and the division expected surface P2', and the large end part 7 is ruptured and divided along the division expected surface P2' with the first notch 21a and second notch 21b as starting points, respectively.
